The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has released the results of the June 2026 Common Registration Assessment, confirming an overall pass rate of 83% for trainee pharmacists across Great Britain. The assessment, held jointly with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, took place on 16 June 2026 and was sat by 3,326 candidates, with 2,748 passing and 578 unsuccessful.
This cohort is the first to have trained fully under the GPhC’s 2021 initial education and training standards, marking a significant milestone in the regulator’s multi‑year reforms to pharmacist training. GPhC Chief Standards Officer Lynsey Cleland congratulated successful candidates and emphasised that the assessment remains a key safeguard to ensure new registrants can apply their knowledge and make appropriate professional judgements. She added that the regulator will continue to evaluate the impact of the 2021 standards as more cohorts progress through training.

Candidates who did not pass have been directed to guidance on next steps, including the appeals process, and to support from Pharmacist Support, the independent charity offering confidential wellbeing and financial assistance.
The publication of the results follows wider regulatory activity in recent weeks, including the GPhC’s approval of new standards for pharmacy technician education and training on 17 July 2026, and ongoing public messaging urging people to check that online pharmacies are properly registered as new oral semaglutide products enter the market.
