On 6 May 2025, the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) launched an independent, confidential Emotional Support Service designed to assist registrants during the fitness to practise (FtP) process.

Recognising that these investigations can cause considerable stress and worry, the service—provided by CiC, a specialist in emotional wellbeing—offers a 24/7 free phone care line for immediate access to qualified counsellors, as well as up to six sessions of short-term face-to-face or virtual counselling when clinically appropriate.

In addition to emotional support, the service provides practical advice and signposting for further assistance or legal information, all while ensuring complete confidentiality with the GCC receiving only anonymised usage data. Registrants can easily self-refer by calling the care line or by requesting a call-back via email, with contact details provided during the fitness to practise process or via professional associations.

Notably, a separate arrangement is in place for patients via the charity Victim Support, addressing their different needs and preventing potential conflicts of interest in support provision.
