HCPC fee consultation 2026

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has opened a public consultation on plans to increase its annual registration fee by £5.06, with equivalent rises proposed across other HCPC fees. The consultation follows agreement by the HCPC Council at its meeting on 26 March 2026. If approved, the new annual registration fee would rise to £128.40, introduced through a phased approach between 2027 and 2029 in line with each profession’s renewal cycle. The regulator said the proposal reflects the minimum increase required to maintain financial sustainability, meet statutory public protection duties, and continue essential improvement work. It acknowledged ongoing cost‑of‑living pressures on registrants and said it aims to review fees at least every two years, anticipating that regular, incremental adjustments will be needed in future. The consultation runs from 28 April to 17 July 2026, with full documents and an online survey available for individuals and organisations to submit their views. The HCPC said it will continue to engage widely with stakeholders across the UK throughout the consultation period. The regulator also highlighted that some registrants may be eligible to claim back tax on renewal fees.
