The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has welcomed the launch of the Royal College of Pharmacy, describing it as a significant milestone for the profession across Great Britain.
Gisela Abbam, Chair of the GPhC, said the establishment of the new Royal College represents “an important moment for pharmacy”, highlighting its potential to strengthen leadership and provide enhanced professional guidance for those working across the sector. She noted that the College is expected to support practitioners in developing their practice and delivering high‑quality care for patients.
Kathie Cashell, Chief Executive of the GPhC, said the regulator looks forward to close collaboration with the new body as it begins its work. She emphasised that joint efforts between the organisations can help “support high standards of care, champion inclusion and collaboration, and improve outcomes for patients and the public”.
The launch marks the beginning of a new chapter for the profession, with the Royal College expected to play a central role in shaping professional development, supporting excellence in practice, and strengthening the collective voice of pharmacy.
