The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has announced the removal of historical revalidation records from myGPhC accounts, reflecting its commitment to data minimisation and regulatory efficiency. While the update primarily concerns the deletion of records older than six years, it also signals a broader shift in the GPhC’s approach to resource prioritisation and case management.
Although the announcement does not directly reference disqualification hearings, it aligns with the GPhC’s recent decision to close certain disqualification cases without progressing to full hearings. In both instances, the regulator has emphasised proportionality, public protection, and the effective use of resources. The removal of outdated revalidation data—no longer required for regulatory purposes—mirrors the rationale behind not pursuing hearings where there is no ongoing risk to the public.
The GPhC confirmed that revalidation records from 2018 and earlier will be permanently deleted from myGPhC accounts. This change will not affect registrants’ current revalidation status or future submissions. The regulator encourages registrants to download any records they wish to retain before the deletion date.
