The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has published its Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) performance report, outlining the work carried out between 1 June 2024 and 30 June 2026 to advance its EDIB framework.
The report details how the regulator has continued embedding EDIB principles across its functions as a healthcare regulator, service provider and employer. It sets out progress made against the framework’s four aims: promoting equity, valuing diversity, embracing inclusivity and creating belonging.
During the reporting period, the GOsC focused on making regulatory processes fair, accessible and informed by a broad range of perspectives. This included strengthening how it listens to and involves patients, osteopaths, students, educators and other stakeholders, and improving the use of evidence to understand people’s varied experiences of osteopathy and regulation.
The report also emphasises the importance of an inclusive organisational culture, highlighting support for staff and non‑executives to contribute openly, challenge constructively and help shape decisions that reinforce public protection and confidence in osteopathy.
The EDIB framework runs to 2030 and sets out how EDIB supports the GOsC’s wider strategy, including ongoing review, learning and development of its approach.
Chief Executive and Registrar Matthew Redford said the framework aims to ensure fairness, inclusion and belonging are built into the organisation’s work, noting the progress made and the continued commitment to listening, learning and acting so regulation supports safe, inclusive and effective osteopathic practice.
