The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) have produced ‘a short’ guidance note for pharmacy professionals, including pharmacist prescribers, on selecting the appropriate mode of consultation when assessing a person’s needs.
It said the principles outlined in the guidance note apply to consultations undertaken in all pharmacy settings, including those undertaken by online pharmacy services providers.
“Our plan is to include the contents of this guidance note in the document: ‘In practice: Guidance for pharmacist prescribers’ when we undertake our next review.
“However, in the meantime we will be sharing this guidance note with all registrants once it has been finalised and will expect them to follow it when undertaking a consultation. We will be working to this guidance in our operational work, which includes inspections and fitness to practice (FtP). Before we do this, we would like to hear any comments or questions you may have about the draft guidance set out below. “
It invited comments on the guidance note by 30 June 2022.
